What's in the CSV files?

Each edition of the Supplemental CSV files comes as a single .zip file which contains eight different comma-separated values files (CSV). The CSV files found within this .zip file can be extracted using a number of different software packages including 7-zip, jzip, winRAR, and winzip.

The following eight files come with each edition of a CSV files subscription.

TestDuration.csv
ExpectedTestPerformance.csv

Each of the CSV files contains between seven and eight columns of data. The following columns, also known as fields, are found in every CSV file:

Program Code - This field contains the five digit educational program code for your organization.
Start Date - This field contains the date in which the reporting period began.
End Date - This field contains the date in which the reporting period ended.
Comparison Group - This field contains the name of the group being compared. Values include:
  • Jurisdiction refers to all graduates within your state or jurisdiction.
  • Similar Programs (RN only) refers to RN graduates from the same type of program as your program. All RN programs are classified as either BSN, Associate Degree, or Diploma programs.
  • Nation refers to all graduates within the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories.
  • Information Type - This field describes the type of data being provided. Values include:
  • Rank of Passing Rate
  • Count of Graduates Applying for Licensure
  • Total Number of Your Graduates Tested
  • Number Passing
  • Percent Passing
  • Number of Programs
  • Percentile Rank
  • Average Number of Questions
  • Average Test Time in Minutes
  • Percentage Taking Minimum Number of Questions
  • Percentage Taking Maximum Number of Questions
  • Expected Percentage Correct
  • Page - This field contains the page of the NCLEX Program Reports in which the numeric value was found.
    Value - This field contains the numeric value found in the NCLEX Program Reports.

    Each of the invidual CSV files is described below.

    PassingRanks.csv

    The Passing Ranks file contains the numerical information found on page 3.2 of the NCLEX Program Reports, the rank of your program based on the percentage of graduates passing. The values for information type include:

  • Rank of Passing Rate
  • JurisdictionSeekingLicensure.csv

    The Jurisdiction Seeking Licensure file contains the numerical information found on page 3.2.1 of the NCLEX Program Reports, the number of your graduates applying for initial licensure in each jurisdiction. The values for information type include:

  • Count of Graduates Applying for Licensure
  • PercentPassing.csv

    The Percent Passing file contains the numerical information found on page 3.3 of the NCLEX Program Reports, the percentage of your graduates passing the NCLEX Examination. The values for information type include:

  • Total Number of Your Graduates Tested
  • Number Passing
  • Percent Passing
  • PercentPassingDistribution.csv

    The Percent Passing Distribution file contains the numerical information found on page 3.5 of the NCLEX Program Reports, the distribution of programs' passing rate. The values for information type include:

  • Number of Programs
  • TestPlanComparison.csv

    The Test Plan Comparison file contains the numerical information found in Chapter 4 of the NCLEX Program Reports, the Test Plan Report. The numerical information found on pages 4.4, 4.5 and 4.6 are found in this file. This file contains an additional column, called Test Plan Area which refers to the Test Plan Area for which the Percentile Rank was calculated. The values for information type include:

  • Percentile Rank
  • ContentDimensionComparison.csv

    The Content Dimension Comparison file contains the numerical information found in Chapter 5 of the NCLEX Program Reports, the Content Dimension Report. This file contains the numerical information found on pages:

    5.1.3, 5.1.4 and 5.1.5 - Nursing Process
    5.2.3, 5.2.4 and 5.2.5 - Human Functioning
    5.3.3, 5.3.4 and 5.3.5 - Health Alterations
    5.4.3, 5.4.4 and 5.4.5 - Wellness/Illness Continuum
    5.5.3, 5.5.4 and 5.5.5 - Stages of Maturity
    5.6.3, 5.6.4 and 5.6.5 - Stress, Adaptation, and Coping

    This file contains an additional column, called Content Dimension Area which refers to the Content Dimension Area for which the Percentile Rank was calculated. The values for information type include:

  • Percentile Rank
  • TestDuration.csv

    The Test Duration file contains the numerical information found on page 6.2 of the NCLEX Program Reports, the Test Duration Report. This file also contains an additional column called Passing Status which differentiates between Passers, Failers, and All Candidates. The values for information type include:

  • Average Number of Questions
  • Average Test Time in Minutes
  • Percentage Taking Minimum Number of Questions
  • Percentage Taking Maximum Number of Questions
  • ExpectedTestPerformance.csv

    The Expected Test Performance file contains the numerical information found on page 6.4 of the NCLEX Program Reports, the Test Plan Performance Report.
